Managing Director/General Counsel

As Managing Director and General Counsel of Cavan Companies, Paul brings nearly 25 years of experience spanning commercial real estate law, private equity, and development. He combines deep transactional, operational, and financial expertise with a practical understanding of how to structure and grow complex real estate platforms.

Prior to joining Cavan Companies in 2025, Paul spent 17 years developing a sophisticated boutique law practice representing developers and investors in the multifamily value-add and build-to-rent sectors.  His comprehensive understanding of the full deal lifecycle—from private equity and debt capital formation to entity structuring, acquisitions, development, and dispositions—adds significant value to every transaction. Over his career, he has negotiated and closed over $8 billion in real estate transactions for his clients.

Paul firmly believes build-to-rent will be the strongest growth sector of commercial real estate over the next 20 years. His 15 years spent representing Cavan Companies as outside counsel prior to moving in house is foundational to his ongoing work for the company.

Paul earned his law degree from Harvard Law School and holds a degree in Economics from the University of Cincinnati. He resides in Chicago with his family and regularly spends time in Scottsdale, collaborating with the Cavan leadership team.
