Questions and answers.

Why are investors choosing Build-to-Rent?

Many see rental housing as a long-term allocation: the U.S. is short on homes, many households can’t afford to buy, and more choose to rent a house. Results still depend on the market, the homes and the developer.

How should an investor evaluate a Build-to-Rent developer?

Look at communities delivered and sold, how much of development and management the developer controls, how its interests line up with investors’, how it chooses markets and how its homes perform with residents.

What factors affect a Build-to-Rent community’s performance?

Location and local rental supply, the cost basis the developer starts from, the quality of the homes and amenities, and how well the community is managed and leased.
